Maybe you can score yourself some topical hydrocortisone? Actually I vaguely remember hearing that you're not supposed to use that on the face, but you would know better than me...
Face = photosensitivity / hormonal / environmental exposure to me. As Xavier said, throw some hydrocortisone at it (or call up a dematologist with an "interesting patient presentation"!)
